Adsense Format And Position Optimization
I believe Google Adsense is still one of the best tools for Blogger to monetize. However, many bloggers often find themselves don’t earn as much as it should. It is important to know that the earning is significantly affected by the click through rate, and in order to generate sufficient amount of click you will need sufficient amount of visitors.
Basically, when more people visit your blog, the likelihood of such visitors to click the Ads is high and hence the chance to generate more money. The Click Through Rate (CTR) & Earning Per Click (EPC) are very much depending on your blog’s niche. Some blog may have higher CTR & EPR than other. Usually, bloggers will have little control over the CTR & EPR.
Format And Position
Which format is the best & where should be the right place? There is no absolute answer, it varies from page to page and depends very much on the content. However, choosing the right Ads format will bring your visitors to the right track. It may have the major revenue impact for your Ads. Visitors would either see & click the Ads, or see & skip right over.
Generally, bigger & wider Ads formats are more noticeable by the reader. While placing the ads on the header do not necessary increase the Ads performance.
Placing too many ads on your blog may make it looks cluttered. It may give user a bad impression and they may go away. On the other hand, putting Ads in a position that are away from the readers’ eyes may not be able to attract the attention of the visitors at all and thus negatively affecting the performance.
Try the Wordpress Quick Adsense plugin to insert your Ads into your blog contents.
1 Choosing The Adsense Format
Avoid using color that are too far out from your page, ads should be properly blended into the page.
- Size: Use bigger & wider Ads formats, 250 × 250 or 300 × 250.
- Background & borders: Use the same or similar color as the background of your page.
- Text & links: Use the same or similar color as the text and links of your page.
2 Create One Pair of Ads
Place two Ads (250 × 250 or 300 × 250) side by side together will help to optimize the performance. The best way to see the impact of these Ads is to create a channel & assign it to these two Ads.
3 Mix Your Ads Within The Content
Place the pair of Ads you have created right after the introduction of your post content, as illustrated below. Perhaps, mix your Ads anywhere within the content & check the effect.

4 Avoid Place Ads On Header & Sidebar
From my experience, the performance of Ads at header & sidebar are quite poor. Placing Ads at these positions will certainly segregate your contents from your Ads and give your visitors good impression. However, it will generate poor performance and you may end up earn less than what you have expected. Priority of Ads placement should be at the content itself.
5 Different Positions For Different Posts
The best location for Ads varies from page to page. If your visitors come back to visit your blog frequently, they are likely to become sightless to the ads position over the time. Try to place Ads in the different position for each different post. As such, your Ads will be more noticeable by your visitors.
6 Channels Are Important
Channels are the perfect tool to track your Ads performance. Whether you want to measure a specific type of Ads placement or post, the channels will help you to determine what’ll be the most successful. The more you implement channels, the better you know the effects of the Ads.

I agree! AdSense channels are very important in helping you understand how your AdSense units are performing. You can use URL Channels to understand how a page as a whole is performing, and Custom Channels to see how individual units are performing. By testing and adjusting the postion of your ad units you can significantly change the amount of income that your website generates with the same traffic.
I have been trying to use yieldbuild in your app but and it skips other ads is there any specific reason?
Should be no problem. Try look at the html source code & check whether the Ads code still there.
I found ads on this page quite interesting!
Quite so, I think the same about placing ads in sidebars.
Awesome Adsense trick!! Did you experienced good earnings by applying the similar tricks…?? So, what your revenue amount..?
Thanks for your comment Arijit. I can’t disclose the amount of earning here (Adsense TOC), however my Adsense earning is improving overtime. I believe the most important part is to secure significant number of visitors, with that only the optimization tricks will become effective. Also, experiment the formats & positions, and check the result.

You were saying that header and sidebar ads are not working so well. Maybe that is true, but for sure they are less disturbing than the one in the middle of the post (I also have ads in posts as they are more visible). My opinion is that beside getting revenue from ads, you have to find a balance between income and getting readers to hate a website due to large amount of ads.
Ya, you are right we have to find balance between the two. I believe place up to 3 ads in a page with full of contents should be okay.
